第70回日本臨床検査医学会(11月16日～19日)出展報告
Report on Exhibit at The 70th Annual Meeting of Japanese Society of Laboratory Medicine.

今回、日本臨床検査医学会にてNCBNのブース展示を行いました。
九州新幹線が開通したことにより長崎駅とその周りが大改修されており、2019年の人類遺伝学会で訪れた時とはガラッと変わっていました。
会場の出島メッセは、駅の出口すぐそばにあり、立地的には最高の場所ではないかと思われます。

日本臨床検査医学会ではNCBNを初めて知ったという反応が多く、まだまだ知られていない印象でした。
興味をもって説明を聞いてくれる方が多かったため、パンフレットは50部持っていきましたが、2日目の終わり時点で残り2部まで掃けてしまいました。
アンケートは31名の方に回答いただきましたが、NCBNでは今集めていない試料のお話もあり、勉強になりました。

検査医学会ということもあり、メーカーからは試薬の開発に使用可能か、使う場合においての費用、要望する試料を集めてもらえるのか、という質問が多く、他の学会に出展した際にも検査薬メーカーからは同様の質問があり、検査薬の開発という世界では試料確保が大変な状況であることが理解できました。

既にNCBNを利用している企業の方にも来訪いただき、NCBNについては「契約周りは大変だが、サンプルが手に入りやすくとても楽になっている。カタログデータベースも使いやすくなっており、NCBNをまた利用したいと考えている。窓口の方には大変お世話になっており、対応いただきありがたい。」と好評をいただき、データベースについても好評だったのは、構築・運営しているデータベース・広報部門にとっては非常に喜ばしいことでした。

最後に中央バイオバンクとして日本臨床検査医学会に出展するのは初めてでしたが、興味を持つ方も多く、さっそく使用したいと伝えてもらえることもあり、検査の業界においてもNCBNは非常に有用な存在であるのではないかと感じました。
しかしながら、全体的にNCBNの認知は低く皆様に知っていただくためにこれからも地道な活動が必要と再認識しました。

NCBN exhibited a booth at The 70th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Laboratory Medicine.
Nagasaki Station and the surrounding area had undergone a major renovation with the opening of the Kyushu Shinkansen bullet train line, which was a complete change from when we visited in 2019 for the Annual Meetings of the Japan Society of Human Genetics.
The venue, Dejima Messe, is located right next to the exit of the station, which is probably the best location for the event.

Many people responded that they had never heard of NCBN before, giving the impression that it is still not well known.
Since many people were interested in listening to the explanation, we brought 50 copies of the pamphlet, but by the end of the second day, we had swept up the remaining two copies.
Thirty-one people responded to the questionnaire, and some of them talked about samples that NCBN is not currently collecting, which was very informative.

Since the conference was held at a laboratory medicine conference, many manufacturers asked whether they could use the samples for reagent development, if so, how much it would cost, and whether they could collect the requested samples. We understood that it is very difficult to secure samples in the world of reagent development.

We also had a visit from a company that is already using NCBN, and they commented on NCBN, “The contracting process is difficult, but it is very easy to obtain samples and it is very easy to use. The catalog database is also easy to use, and we would like to use NCBN again. The contact person has been very helpful, and we appreciate the support. It was a great pleasure for the Database and Public Relations Department, which is responsible for the construction and operation of the database, to hear the positive feedback about the database as well.

Finally, although it was the first time for the Central Biobank to exhibit at the Japanese Society for Laboratory Medicine, many people were interested in the NCBN and told us that they wanted to use it right away.
However, the overall recognition of NCBN is still low, and we reaffirmed the need to continue our steady activities to make people aware of NCBN.
